My great grandmother, Lucy Forth, was an incredible baby-making machine. At a time when having children was a dangerous venture, for both mother and child, she defied all odds and gave birth to sixteen children, only two of whom died within days of their births.
Rosanna was recorded by name on her death registration. Cause of death seems to say "Fets 24 hours" which I presume to mean that she was having convulsions or fits and didn't make it beyond 24 hours though the record does state age as 2 days on January 10.
Ivy was recorded on her death registration simply as Infant Forth. Her death was the result of eclampsia. She was recorded in the family bible as Ivy.
I wonder if it was having so many pregnancies that contributed to Lucy's early death at age 55.
