William Franklin Scott

William Franklin Scott

William Franklin "Frankie" Scott, fifth child of Lucy and Lemuel Scott, was born July 4, 1879, on the family farm located on Lot 4 Concession VIII of Stephenson Township, Muskoka District. Little is known of Frankie's life, but soon after his birth, his family moved into Bracebridge where they were located on the 1881 Census.

Eleven days after his eighth birthday, and just five days after his mother had given birth to his youngest brother, Francis "Henry" Scott, Frankie died of diphtheria. He is buried in the United Church Cemetery. I found, in my great great grandmother's photo album, a death photo of Frankie.

The inscription at the bottom of his broken headstone reads:

We loved this tender little one

And would have wished him stay

But let our Father's will be done

He shines in endless day.
