Henry’s eldest child, Jacob Henry Ouderkirk, was born May 2, 1816 in Williamsburg Township, Dundas County. He married Sarah Herrington in 1842 in Winchester Township and they had eleven children.
Jacob’s great granddaughter through his daughter, Hannah Ellen Ouderkirk, and her daughter, Lucy Ellen Luckey, was Shirley Ellen Forth, author ofA Dutch Cooper’s Legacy: An Ouderkirk Story From 1660. Shirley was an Ouderkirk descendant on both her mother’s AND her father’s sides. Her father was Alfred Lemuel Forth, grandson of Jacob’s half sister, Lucy Ellen Ouderkirk. Shirley’s parents were half second cousins.

Jacob moved to the District of Muskoka where he was first recorded in 1868 when he received his free land grant. He appeared on the 1871 Census with seven of his children, William, Mary, Caroline, Eliza, Rachel, Hannah, and Charles. The eldest child, Jacob "Allan", had married Almira Fetterly in 1865 and thus was not living with the family. It is assumed that Isaac, Martha Ann, and Ellen had died young.
Jacob and Sarah are buried in the Ullswater Cemetery next to his sister, Maria Pickering.
